Practical Aquaponics Workshops
Cairns Aquaponics gardening workshops are designed to answer all your questions & solve your organic food growing challenges. Our backyard aquaponics training is in a relaxed style, suitable for the beginner right through to more confident aquaponic gardeners. There is an option for everyone including:
School excursions;
Ad hoc Greenhouse tours;
1/2 day introduction & build a mini Aquaponics system;
1 day Aquaponics Fundamentals training;
2 day Aquaponics Accelerator training;
1 day Field Trips visiting past students aquaponics systems;
Regardless of which program is chosen, throughout the day you will learn everything you need to know to help you set up & successfully operate your own Aquaponic fish & vegetable garden in your own home.
You will see touch & feel seven different Aquaponics system examples, fish tanks, grow beds and pond. We showcase large & small aquaponic systems that can be used in tight spaces in units, balconies through to larger urban farm size systems & applications to provide the families food.
Who should attend Aquaponics Workshops?
Aquaponics workshops are for those striving for food security for their family, those wanting to eat pesticide free, spray free, chemical free fresh organic food.
Its also for those who would like to know what they are eating, those who observed food shortages or transport issues during COVID and need to provide for their family to save money and avoid food shortages.
Past workshop participants have included local and international schools, TAFE & university students, those individuals seeking to set up a DIY home aquaponics system, Chefs and Café owners and those wanting an additional income stream growing excess food. A day with our highly qualified staff & you will walk away with essential principles & knowledge to start or expand your own aquaponics urban farm project.
Hands on Training
Aquaponic workshops include classroom theory & a field trip through our DIY backyard & commercially purchased Aquaponics systems.
Hands on opportunities throughout our Cairns Aquaponics training may include system assembly, water testing, fish disease prevention & awareness, system cycling, water quality and maintenance activities.
We also have several school group options were students are able to make mini aquaponics systems and take them home to start their own aquaponics journey growing food. This links with school curriculum and offers a great day out.
